Structure

Many patients have a high enough bridge but suffer from a tip that is bulbous, droopy, or undefined. In these cases, a full rhinoplasty is unnecessary. You only need Tip Plasty.

The Korean approach to the nasal tip is strictly "No Foreign Body." We do NOT use silicone or implants in the tip because of the high risk of extrusion. Instead, we reshape your existing alar cartilages and use your own ear or septal cartilage to build a safe, flexible, and natural-looking tip.

Whether you want a cute, slightly upturned look or a sophisticated drop shape, the structure is built to last.

Why Korean Tip Plasty?

We turn "Round & Blunt" into "Slim & Defined."

Golden Rule

100% Autologous Tissue

Using only your own cartilage (Septal/Ear) ensures the tip remains soft, infection-free, and safe from skin thinning.

Structure

3D Rotation Control

We don't just lift the tip; we control the angle (nasolabial angle) to prevent the nose from drooping when you smile.

Detail

Alar Cartilage Tying

For wide tips, we suture the spreading lower lateral cartilages together to create a slimmer, sharper triangle base.

Which Tip Type Are You?

Targeted solutions for specific tip shapes.

Bulbous Tip ("Bok-Ko")

  • Trait: The tip looks fat, round, and fleshy (like a clown nose).
  • Cause: Thick skin + Excess soft tissue + Wide cartilage.
  • Fix: Defatting skin + Cartilage tying + Stacking graft.

Droopy Tip (Arrow Nose)

  • Trait: The tip points down, especially when smiling, making the face look long.
  • Cause: Long septal cartilage or strong depressor muscle.
  • Fix: Muscle release + Tip rotation (lifting) + Support graft.

Flat / Short Tip

  • Trait: The tip is low and lacks projection from the profile view.
  • Cause: Weak structural support.
  • Fix: Septal extension graft to firmly push the tip forward and up.

Surgical Techniques

How we engineer a refined tip.

For Wide Tips

Cartilage Suture Tying

If the alar cartilages (the wings of the tip) are spread apart, the nose looks wide. We use precise sutures to tie them closer together. This naturally narrows the tip without removing tissue.

  • Result: Sharper, narrower tip.
  • Benefit: Minimal tissue damage.
For Height & Shape

Onlay Cartilage Graft

To create a sophisticated point, we harvest cartilage (usually from the ear) and stack it on top of the tip structure like a shield. This adds projection and creates a refined "diamond" highlight point.

  • Result: Improved projection and profile line.
  • Safety: Ear cartilage is soft and curved, perfect for the tip.
For Thick Skin (Bulbous)

Soft Tissue Removal (Defatting)

For "Bok-Ko," simply raising the cartilage isn't enough because the skin is too thick. We carefully remove the subcutaneous fat layer from under the skin to reveal the cartilage definition underneath.

  • Result: Slimmer skin envelope.
  • Note: Must be done carefully to preserve blood supply.

Tip Plasty vs. Full Rhinoplasty

Feature Tip Plasty Full Rhinoplasty
Target Area Nasal Tip Only Bridge (Dorsum) + Tip
Main Goal Refinement, Rotation, Slimming Height Increase, Hump Removal, Overall Size
Materials 100% Autologous Cartilage Silicone (Bridge) + Cartilage (Tip)
Recovery Fast (No bone work) Moderate (Osteotomy bruising possible)
Estimated Cost $2,500 ~ $4,000 $4,500 ~ $7,000

* Prices vary based on complexity (e.g., need for septal extension vs simple graft).

Safety Protocols

Precision prevents the "Pinched Look."

Prevention of "Pinched Nose"

Tying cartilages too tightly can block airways and look unnatural. We leave enough space for natural airflow and aesthetic width.

Absorption Control

Cartilage grafts can slightly absorb over time. We calculate this absorption rate (approx. 10-20%) and slightly over-correct initially to ensure the final result is perfect.

No Prosthetic Risk

Since no silicone is used, the risk of infection or "tip turning red" in cold weather is virtually non-existent.

Recovery Timeline

Faster than full rhinoplasty.

Day 1-2

Swelling

Nose may feel stuffy. Breathe through mouth if packing is used (often not needed for simple tip plasty).

Day 5-7

Stitch Removal

Stitches on the columella (if open approach) and inside nose are removed. Taping is removed.

2 W

Social Life

Major swelling is gone. The tip will still feel "hard" or stiff, which is normal.

3-6 Mo

Softening

The tip becomes soft and touchable again. Final definition becomes visible as micro-swelling clears.

FAQ

Common questions, answered clearly.

Will my nose drop over time?
Gravity affects everything, but we use structural support grafts (columellar strut) to anchor the tip firmly, minimizing any droop compared to older techniques.
Can I pig-nose (push up) my nose after surgery?
For the first 6 months, the tip will be stiff. After 6-12 months, as tissues soften, you will regain some flexibility, but it won't be as squishy as a natural nose due to the support structure.
Does thick skin make surgery impossible?
No, but it limits the definition. Patients with thick skin need aggressive defatting and stronger cartilage support to push through the skin for a defined look.
